Yoga at Joyce's atic

Kuzuzangpo and Namaste!

I was asked to conduct yoga at the YDF gym, but it seems that it won't be happening.

The best option at the moment is to practice YOGA in my atic. Check the new blog here.
My living room is empty... It's about half size of Nyin-Dah... The (wooden) floor was re-made just before I came in. I think it is waiting for yoga...

For the moment, the idea is to have 2 times per week 1h30 class on Monday and Thursday at 7pm.
The style will vary but it will mainly be Vinyasa Flow, Tibetan Heart Yoga (you can find descriptions here).
The price will be 150 NU per class. You can come whenever you want, but it is appreciated if you call/e-mail before.
Let me know of your suggestions.

Yoga mats and props are still provided.

I am also still offering Thai Yoga Massage. Contact me directly for more information.

Directions: The atic is at the top of the small building at Shambala Apartments. It's very close to UNICEF. If you are standing in front of UNICEF on Thori Lam, go down the street (towards town) and take the 2nd small street on your left. It will get you into a sort of courtyard. Don't worry, the dog is nice :D . There are 2 apartment buildings, it's the first one (small one), take the stairs up to the atic... and be ready to enjoy your practice!
... and here is my phone (same as before): 17957404.

Namaste,

Joyce!

GoodBye to Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio in Chamzangthok

Dear Yogi(ni)s and Friends,

As many of you know, Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio is forced to close its doors due to the landlady's request to vacate the space. Unfortunately our efforts to negotiate with her have been unsuccessful.

The last regular class will be held on Thursday 27 May.

We are all sad about this, but... we must stay positive and hope that a new location will soon be determined to continue our yoga practice together! The most probable location is YDF (Nazhoen Pelri). However, negotiations are still taking place and nothing has been confirmed for now. Your suggestions will always be very welcome.

Classes will most probably resume in July since I will be in Europe for work during the whole June (presenting a paper at a conference on Neuroscience).

You'll be informed as soon as there are news.

Of course I recommend you to continue practicing during that period.
There are two beautiful options in Thimphu if you want to join a class:
Dr. John's classes on Wednesdays 5.30pm at the hospital (old emergency exit) and
Aum Pema Choden in Lungtenphu (I think mon-wed-thurs 4.30pm).
Enjoy!

I would like to thank everyone for their support during Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio's short life (4 months!). We all had a nice time practicing yoga together and the practice has certainly planted good seeds in everyone to be a little bit more healthy, more aware, and more happy...! :D
I am immensely grateful to have had the chance to share yoga with you! I have learned so much... thanks for being my teachers.
All my gratitude goes to all the obstacles the studio has gone through, as well. It has made the experience richer and has certainly brought many opportunities to practice yoga out of the mat!

Namaste!
Kadinche la!

May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all.

Sogyal Rinpoche's teachings in Thimphu, 15-16 May 2010

Dear yogi(ni)s,

Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio highly recommends Sogyal Rinpoche's teachings at the YDF hall at Nazhoen Pelri on 15-16 May 2010.

Because of the teachings, Saturday's class will be shifted to 4.30pm - 6pm.

The Heart Essence of the Buddha’s Wisdom
and its
Practical Application for Transforming our Daily Lives

Saturday 15 - Sunday 16 May, 2010 (10 am - 2 pm)

open to all!

All participants are required to register on the day of the teachings or by email to
bhutanteachings2010@gmail.com with your
1. Name
2. Contact number
3. Address
4. Occupation

With his remarkable gift for presenting the essence of Buddhism in a way that is both authentic and profoundly relevant to the modern mind, Sogyal Rinpoche is one of the most renowned spiritual teachers of our time.

During this most recent of his visits to Bhutan, Rinpoche wants to make his teaching simple, practical, and easy to follow and remember. By using illustrative charts and other visual aids, he will give a clear, accessible, yet in-depth introduction and grounding in the teaching and practice of Buddhism. Participants will also take home a handout containing the essential points and prayers from the weekend. The Buddha’s wisdom is as relevant and inspirational today as it was 2,500 years ago. Rinpoche will give guidance on how we can bring these principles into our lives, allowing us to taste the Buddha’s wisdom so that it becomes a natural part of our daily experience.

During this teaching Rinpoche will also give the lung (aural transmission) for Refuge, Bodhichitta, Guru Rinpoche practice and the mantra of Buddha, Avoleketishvara (Chenrezig, Tib.), and Tara.

SOGYAL RINPOCHE BIOGRAPHY
Born in Kham in Eastern Tibet, Sogyal Rinpoche was recognized as the incarnation of Lerab Lingpa Tertön Sogyal, a teacher to the thirteenth Dalai Lama, by the great Dorjé Chang Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, one of the most outstanding spiritual teachers of the twentieth century. Jamyang Khyentse supervised Rinpoche’s training and raised him like his own son.
Rinpoche continued to study with many masters, of all schools, especially Kyabjé Dudjom Rinpoche and Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He served as a translator and aide to Kyabjé Dudjom Rinpoche for many years and then began teaching under his guidance.

Rinpoche is also the author of the highly-acclaimed and ground-breaking book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Over two million copies of this spiritual classic have been printed in 30 languages and 56 countries. In the East, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying has been received with tremendous impact and enthusiasm by English speakers in the Himalayan regions, such as Bhutan, as well as in Taiwan and mainland China.

In addition, Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of 130 Buddhist centres and groups in 41 countries around the world. He has been teaching for over 30 years and continues to travel widely in Europe, America, Australia, and Asia, addressing thousands of people on his retreats and teaching tours.

8th March

Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio wishes to

all YOGINIS

a wonderful and proud 8th of March!!!

(International Woman's Day)

Scholars have described yoginis as independent, outspoken women with graceful spirits, without whom yoga would fail to achieve its full, fruitful purpose.
A Yogini is the sacred feminine force made incarnate: the goddess of mythology as well as the ordinary human woman who is enlightened, both having exuberant passion, spiritual powers and deep insight, capable of giving birth to saints, peacemakers, Yogis and other Yoginis!
